He was one of the first land owners in Oakland County, purchasing 3 parcels of land in Highland township, first, was in section 28, 80 acres, SW 1/4 NW 1/4, on Jul 9, 1836, the other two were purchased on Aug 3, 1836, both were 80 acres, one was in section 20, E 1/2 SE 1/4, and the other in section 29, on NE 1/4 NE 1/4, of the last purchased mentioned, 40 of the 80 acres was located in Town 3 north range seven east, no section given.
