He was one of the first land purchasers of Oakland County, Michigan, He purchased land in Troy Twp., Section 9, the E 1/2 of the SE quarter, on Jun 17, 1822. Adolpheus was a soldier in the War of 1812, a private in Company E, Lieut Col. Enos Foote Regiment of the Massachusetts Militia. This regiment served from Sep 10, 1814 - Nov 7, 1814. On Mar 3, 1827, a petition for guardianship of Adolphus was filed. It stated that he was a distracted person and incapable of taking care of himself and his family. On that same day, a request for an inquisition was made, to look into the matter, and that Cyrus Chipman, Thaddeus Thompson and Jesse Gregory were left with the task. On Mar 7, 1837, Ira Jennings was appointed guardian of Adolphus. In April 1827 Ira Jennings returned, as ordered, an inventory of the estate of Adolphus Abbee, which included; 80 acres of land, 1 yoke of oxen, 2 cows, 4 young cattle, 2 stacks of hay, 1 sow sprigs, 5 shoats, 6 bushels of wheat, 5 bushels of corn, 1 drag, 1 scythe, 2 iron pots, 1 bake paw, 1 tea kettle, 2 bedsteads, a parcel of old crockery, 2 tin pans,2 tea boards, 2 decanters, 2 wine glasses, 1 table, 2 shaves, 1 chest, 1 stand, 2 flat iron, 1 old iron, a few boards,2 jars, 3 crocks, 1 tin tea chest, 1 keal, 2 pails, 2 bags flour, little hay seed in chaft, 4 horse shoes,a few gallons soap, some accounts not settled,2 or 3 old barrles,a few fowls, a calf come in May. and 1 or 2 saw logs at mill.
