He was born March 6, 1791 in Ulster County, New York, he died August 14, 1857. He is the son of Andris Davis, a Revolutionary war pensioner. He was married January 24, 1816 to Agnes Winfield , the daughter of Abram Winfield, she was born March 13, 1793 in Orange County, New York, she died May 14, 1844. They came from Ulster County, New York to Springfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, in 1836, they owned all of section 17, and 80 acres in section 20. Cornelius owned a sawmill in the Gristmill at Davisburg, Springfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan. They were Methodist. They had the following children: Mary, Jerome Z., John C. , James H., Thaddeus C., Andrew, Sarah J. The wife of Mr. Burnham, Isaac L. , and Andres.
