Mr. & Mrs. Scott Buell in Altercation

A tale of family riot comes from Holly, It appears that on tuesday evening, Jun 6th, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Buell engaged in an altercation, which resulted in the husband's being brought to jail here Wednesday on the charge of assault with the intent to do great bodily harm. Buell is a carpenter and dealer in nursery stock at Holly, while Mrs. Buell conducts a popular millinery establishment there. According to report, their married life has been anything but the most agreeable, and wordy as well as fistic encounters have often taken place between them. It si alleged that on the ya in question, Mrs. Nuell spent the afternoon in the country and returned to her home in the evening, intoxicated. She went directly to bed, and soon after Buell went upstairs also. Before retiring he sat down to read the newspaper and soon after the fun began. the exact circumstances will not be known until after the trial, but one version of the affair is that Mrs. Buell felt rather guilty because of her conduct in the afternoon and expected a rebuke or chastisement from her better half. As what she expected was rather slow in coming, She started the ball a rolling, by finding fault with Buell because he did not come to bed earlier. Buell politely told her to shut up. Soon after a merry scrap was on, and just as it was getting interesting, Mrs. Buell screamed for help, the neighbors rushed in to find the cause of the difficulty. A revolver was laying on the dresser, and Mrs. Buell claimed that Buell has attempted to kill her, and ask that he be arrested. An officer took Buell in charge, and he was brought to the county jail to await his examination, which was held before Justice Stewart at HOlly, yesterday, Samuel J. Patterson and Prosecuting Attorney K. P. Rockwell appeared respectively for the defendant and the people.
