Death of Two Girls After Party
Detroit, Mich - Jan 1, (AP) The gay New Year's Eve party going of two Pontiac high school girls ended in their death early Tuesday in a snowbank in suburban Royal Oak. The deaths of Jessie Anastos, 15, and Barbara Holloway, 17, provided police with a major puzzle with the first theory being that the girl had been strangled. Hours of investigation and medical autopsies later led authorities to express belief that an auto figured in the deaths. The case is wide open, but right now we are probing the possibility that the girls were either struck by a car, pushed from one or they fell from one, declared State Police Capt. Howard L. Seiler Jr. Jessie and Barbara left a party in suburban Ferndale an hour before midnight, indicating they planned to hitchhike to Pontiac to another party. Two youths told police they were driving home from another party when a tall blonde youth flagged them down and told them to get police there had been an accident. When police arrived, the bodies of the two girls were in a snowbank about ten feet off the highway. The Holloway girl was dead and Miss Anastos died a few hours later, in St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac. Police found no trace of the tall youth who reportedly gave first alarm of the tragedy.
